Index tab
The Index tab on the Job Setup dialog
box allows you to define an index field at the batchA collection of documents or images that are uniquely indexed. A job setup can contain several batches, each up to 999999999 documents. Processing a batch means converting the batch to a specific output format (e.g., single-page TIFF, PDF, LaserFiche) and sending it to a batch destination folder/subdirectory. A paper document is a collection of pages; an electronic document is a collection of images. A document containing many pages is called a multi-page document (e.g., a file folder or article). A document containing only one page is called a single-page document (e.g., a check). Initially, every document is in paper form and becomes an electronic document after it is scanned; the software gives every document a unique electronic document number. This document number is cross-referenced with index data that can be uploaded to any document management system.

Capture Pro Limited Edition only allows one index field.
Batch Level tab- select to add index fields at the batch level.
Document Level tab- select to add index fields at the document level.
PDF Properties tab - select to specify a value for each PDF document bookmark or to assign index values to PDF properties metadata.

The PDF properties Title, Subject, Author, and Keywords may be mapped to system values, document indexes, or batch indexes. Use the Setup button for each field, to bring up a dialog where you can define the mapping.

PDF document bookmarks may be defined using index values. Use the Setup button for the PDF Bookmark field.
Database Lookuptab - select this tab to specify the data source, define how the lookup is performed and what data is used to populate index fields or validate the contents of index fields.
Under Action when audit fails:

Continue scanning:keep scanning process even when the audit finds illegal index values.

Stop scanning:stop scanning the process and automatically enter Index Editing Mode when audit finds illegal index values.For more information, .
Bypass audit during navigation - check this box to disable the audit function when you are navigating through documents in theBatch Explorer. The term "Audit" here refers to the verifying system that will make sure all index values comply with the input/output format.
Each Index Field item has the following properties: Name, Type, Default Value, Input Format*, Output Format*, Read-only*, and Hidden*.
Add -opens the Document Add Index Field dialog box to create a new index field in a document or the Batch Add Index Field dialog box to create a new field in a batch.
Edit -opens theDocument Edit Index Field dialog box to modify an index field in a document, or the Batch Edit Index Field dialog box to modify an index field in a batch.
Delete -click to remove the selected index field.
Move up* -click to move the selected index field one step up in the index list.
Move down* -click to move the selected index field one step down in the index list.
* This option is not available with Capture Pro Limited Edition.
