Separating batches or documents with blank pages

To access the blank page separation settings:

  1. Select File>Job Setup. The Job Setup dialog box will be displayed.

  2. From the Job name drop-down list, select a job setup and open the Capture tab.

  3. Select Separation>By Blank Page. The blank page options will be displayed. For more information, click here.

  4. Enable the Blank Page Image Separator when checkbox.

  5. Decide how to set threshold limits for your blank page. You can set these limits based on:

    • The actual image size in bytes -  enter the maximum image size in bytes for black and white and color/grayscale images. The image size is checked against the raw, or pure, image coming from the scanner. For more information, click hereClosedFor black and white images, 3000 bytes is suggested as the default. For color scanning, the maximum image size that can be specified is 1,000,000 bytes (1 MB).

    • The percentage of content in the image - enter the percentage maximum for black and white and color/grayscale images. For the best results, use the percentage of content settings if you are scanning color/grayscale images.

  1. Scan a test image to check your threshold limits by clicking Test. For more information, click here.

  2. Enable the Create a new batch or Create a new document radio button.  f you select Create a new batch, the Delete Page check box will be automatically enabled. However, you can disable it manually.

  3. Click OK to save you settings and exit the dialog box.

Depending on your scanner, some of these blank page options may be unavailable.
