OCR Zone Setup dialog box

This option is not available with Capture Pro Limited Edition.

Use this box to name your OCR zones and change their settings. For a complete explanation of each field, click the green field name.

OCR zones provide the software with information such as dimensions of the zone. After you draw an OCR zone, the software attempts to read the information in the zone and automatically displays the OCR Zone Properties window with whatever text the software could read in the zone.

Zone NameYou must name the OCR zone in order to save it.

This name identifies the text zone and appears in Index setup as OCR::[zonename] in the list of default values. - enter a name for the OCR zone.

IMPORTANT: The OCR name does not define or identify an Index field. In the Job Setup dialog box, all index fields must be defined in the Index tab. To use an OCR zone for an index field, you must assign the appropriate OCR::[zonename] as a default value for the index field.

Side - select Front or Back using the radio buttons.

Rule for values to keep — any valid Input format text expressions may be entered or this filed may be left empty. If any Input format text expression is entered, then only OCR read strings that meet this rule will be kept. For example, if the expression entered is A<10>, then only OCR read strings containing 10 or less alpha characters will be kept. For more information click Input formats.

Search for value in zone — when the Rule for values to keep is a fixed string format, then the OCR zone read value only needs to contain fixed strings for value to be kept.

For example, if the Rule for values to keep was set to Form 1099, then the following read strings would be valid reads and batch/document separation would occur if selected.

“77644 Form 1099 - revision 2.2”

Character set rule — not applicable at this time.

Primary language — selecting the appropriate primary language ensures that the software properly OCR’s special language-specific characters (e.g., ç or ü). Use the drop-down list to display a list of supported languages.

Secondary language — one or more secondary languages may be selected when a zone may contain characters from more than one language.

Custom dictionary — a custom dictionary may be used to improved the accuracy of recognizing unique or unusual words that appear in your document set. Click Browse to select a custom dictionary. To build a custom dictionary, click Using Custom Dictionaries for more information.

SeparationCreate a new batch - all images after the separation go into a new document in a new batch.

Create a new document - all images after separation go into a new document in the current batch.

Next page stays in current document - the next page after the separation remains in the current document.

No separation - if you enable this option, use the following drop-down list to indicate the separation level:

Document level - OCR zones located on the Document level and OCR zones that separate documents are available for document indexing. However, they are not available for batch indexing.
Batch level -Batch level OCR zones are only read when they are present on a Batch Header page.

A Batch Header page exists whenever batch separation is defined using patch codes, bar codes, or OCR zones (at least one zone in the job setup is configured for Batch separation). OCR zones located on the Batch level and OCR zones that separate batches are available for both batch and document indexing.

Only separate when change in value - system separates by document or batch only if a value changes.

Delete page - delete the page that contains the OCR read value that initiated the separation.

OK - closes the dialog box and returns to the OCR window.
